HOT SPRINGS â€“ After starting out in an 11-0 hole to begin the game, the Benton Lady Panthers fought back, but fell 49-47 to the Hot Springs Lady Trojans on Monday night in Hot Springs.
Tied at 47-47, Lady Trojan Berniezha Tidwell hit a 7-foot runner with four seconds remaining. After a timeout, the Lady Panthers set up a play, but couldnâ€™t get a shot off to fall to 6-3 on the season.
SPRINGDALE â€“The Benton Panthers lost for the first time this year dropping to the Springdale Bulldogs 61-56 in Springdale on Friday night.
â€śThe game was pretty simple,â€ť Benton Coach Chris Nail said. â€śWe got off to a really slow start. Theyâ€™re a really good team. We just kind of dug ourselves a hole there.â€ť
The Panthers (8-1) were down 17-7 after the first quarter and 32-22 at the half, but made a run in the third quarter to cut it to within three points going into the fourth quarter. Benton was within one before falling by five points.
BRYANT â€“ The Bryant Hornets hosted the Russellville Cyclones on Tuesday night and sent them back home with a 53-43 defeat as the Hornets capitalized on the Cyclonesâ€™ aggressiveness. Bryant made 25 of 32 (78 percent) free throws opposed to Russellvilleâ€™s 5 of 8.
â€śIt was probably the ugliest game Iâ€™ve ever been associated with in terms of offense,â€ť Bryant Coach Mike Abrahamson said. â€śWe both played really good defense, we both had each other scouted well. Both sets of kids did a great job of taking away our offensive looks.
