Coach will take ugly loss

BENTON – Despite a less-than-stellar performance, the Benton Panthers came away with a 50-44 victory over the Sheridan Yellowjackets in 7A/6A South conference play on Tuesday night in Benton Arena. It was the Panthers’ 12th consecutive victory and Benton is ranked seventh in the state in the Hog Country Top 10 poll.
“I did not think we played well at all tonight,” Benton Coach Chris Nail said. “We had dead legs all night. We didn’t have our usual motion. Sheridan played good. You can’t say it was all us, but I didn’t think we played well.

Cardinals upend rival, win 2nd straight

GLEN ROSE - When the month of February rolls around, there is just one thing on the mind of high school basketball teams; postseason play. For the Harmony Grove Cardinals, the 5-3A 2012-13 district tournament looms in the near future.
On Tuesday, the Cardinals traveled just up the street to Glen Rose for an intense rivalry-renewing game with the Beavers. After busting a four-game skid with a win over eStem on Friday, Harmony Grove added a second straight win Tuesday, defeating Glen Rose handily, 75-55.

Hornets 'lazy' in loss

BRYANT – Sophomore K.J. Hill poured in 20 points, Greyson Giles added 10, but their efforts fell short as the Bryant Hornets fell to the visiting Little Rock Fair War Eagles 56-48 on Tuesday night.
Despite outscoring Fair 38-35 in the second half, Bryant Head Coach Mike Abrahamson said his team wasn’t ready from the opening tip.
“We didn’t want this one for some reason,” Abrahamson said. “We weren’t ready to play.”
