LITTLE ROCK â€“ Benton native Branch Terrell signed a letter of intent to play tennis for the Razorbacks at the University of Arkansas on Friday afternoon at the Arkansas Tennis Association in Little Rock.
BRYANT â€“ The Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys plucked yet another from the Bryant Hornet baseball team as senior second baseman Korey Thompson signed his letter of intent to play for the Wonder Boys on Friday morning at Bryant High School. Thompson joins former Bryant Hornets Marcus Wilson and Nate Rutherford at Tech.
BRYANT â€“ The Bryant Lady Hornets received a move-in from Saginaw, Texas, this season and she is already making headlines before playing an inning for the Lady Hornets. Senior Tori Hernandez signed a letter of intent to play third base for the Holy Family University (Philadelphia, Pa.) Lady Tigers at Bryant High School Thursday morning.

BENTON -- Over the past few years, the Benton Lady Panthers have become accustomed to big things on and off the diamond. With three 6A state runner-up finishes in the last four seasons, Benton has thrived on the field. But when the offseason hits, the thriving continues.
BRYANT â€“ All-State Bryant Lady Hornet golfer Peyton Weaver signed a letter of intent to play golf for the University of Arkansas at Little Rock on Wednesday at Bryant High School. Weaver, who was All-State at Stuttgart before moving to Bryant her sophomore season, was All-State at Bryant all three years and was the third-best golfer this season in the Overall State Golf Championship in Little Rock.
BRYANT â€“ Bryant Lady Hornet senior Kayla Jolley is joining a former Lady Hornet as she signed a letter of intent to play for the Ouachita Baptist University Lady Tigers on Wednesday at Bryant High School. Jolley joins former Bryant softball player Carly Yazza as a Lady Tiger.
â€śIâ€™m so excited joining Carly because weâ€™ve been best friends for years,â€ť Jolley said. â€śItâ€™ll help me get used to the environment. She can teach me the ropes so I can be relaxed and not stress about stuff.â€ť
BENTON â€“ Despite struggling for his worst game of the season last week in a 35-0 loss to the Wildcats in El Dorado, senior Panther quarterback Tarek Beaugard still has a chance to break the school record of 25 touchdown passes in a season. Earlroy â€śNubbinâ€ť Wray currently holds the record as Beaugard sits at 21 TDs, failing to throw for one last week and throwing a season-high three interceptions.
BAUXITE â€” The Bauxite Miners have had a hard time winning this season. Owners of a 1-8 overall record and still winless in 7-4A conference play, the Miners head into the the final week of the season with a trip to Nashville tonight.
Bauxite is coming off of a 62-7 loss to conference favorite Arkadelphia last week, a game in which the Miners totaled 226 yards of offense. Rooks led in passing yards with 150. The quarterback added a touchdown to his resume but also threw two interceptions. Junior wide receiver Ben Madison led with 10 catches for 93 yards and a TD in the loss.
RUSSELLVILLE â€” For those watching in the Russellville High School gym, the 6A Volleyball State Championship match was one to remember. The Benton Lady Panthers fell 16-14 in the fifth and final set of the 6A state final to the Jonesboro Lady Hurricane on Saturday night to finish as runner-up in the state.
â€śIt was a great game,â€ť Benton Coach Brandy Chumley said. â€śIf you go out with a loss, you want it to be a game like that. Hard in everything that they gave.â€ť
