LITTLE ROCK – There was quite a drastic difference in the Benton McClendon’s Appliances’ games against the Little Rock Vipers on Wednesday night at Gary Hogan Field in Little Rock. BENTON – Benton McClendon Appliances rallied late and held on to win 11-9 against Jacksonville Gwatney Chevrolet on Bill Perry Field at Bernard Holland Park on Saturday.
“We just fought through,” Benton Coach Brandon Wake said. “We just talked to them and told them we have seen this pitcher twice now and it’s time to go to work. I’d like to improve on getting ahead in the count. We’re going to work on [it].”
It is not that big of a surprise that the St. Louis Cardinals are near the top for best record in baseball at the halfway point. A force to be reckoned with over the past decade, the Cardinals have been in and out of the playoffs and on both the positive and negative side of the World Series trophy.
RUSSELLVILLE – The Benton McClendon’s Appliances hit into four double plays in a 3-0 loss to Russellville Post 20 at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville on Wednesday. The loss sets the McClendon’s down to 7-12 on the year.
Russellville scored just one run in the first inning despite three walks and two hits issued by starter Trey Bishop. Post 20 would score just two unearned runs in the bottom of the third to take a 3-0 lead which would hold up for the rest of the game.
