David Price is the biggest name being thrown around leading up to the 2014 Major League Baseball trade deadline on July 31. Of the few teams vying for the Tampa Bay ace, the St. Louis Cardinals look to be the front-runner right now.
For the past two seasons Price has been the center of conversation when it comes to trades and the Cardinals have been the leading candidate both times. With plenty of prospect potential to land the 28-year-old Cy Young winner, St. Louis might want to jump at the chance a second time around.
NORTH LITTLE ROCK â€“ Technically, the Bryant Everett Black Sox didnâ€™t go undefeated in the Junior American Legion State Tournament. Needing to beat the Sheridan Yellowjackets just once, opposed to Sheridan having to beat Bryant twice, the Black Sox routed Sheridan 10-5 in the first state championship game of the night. But, Sheridan lobbied for the first game to be a Bryant forfeit because of an ineligible player. The game was forfeited by Bryant, but Sheridan may have preferred the first loss to what was ahead for the Yellowjackets the second game.
BAUXITE â€” With the 2014 high school football season quickly approaching, the Bauxite Miners now have to find a new head coach. Shane Clancy, Minersâ€™ coach for last four seasons, announced Tuesday to the team and district that he would be leaving to coach Bethel Middle School in Bryant once the Bryant School Board approves the change next week.
â€śI am going to miss Bauxite and the people I worked with,â€ť Clancy said. â€śI am thankful for the opportunity that I had to work here and provide for my family.â€ť
