NORTH LITTLE ROCK â€“ In the semifinals of the Junior American Legion State Tournament between the Bryant Everett Black Sox and Sheridan, the two teams went into extra innings tied 1-1. Everett cemented its spot in the state championship game today as Bryant scored three runs in the top of the eighth and Beaux Bonvillain, who relieved in the third inning, shut Sheridan down for the 4-1 win. Bryant also defeated Paragould 4-0 in the second game of the day on Jake Eastâ€™s shutout and will play Sheridan today at 5 p.m. in the final.
Elvis is not the only â€śKingâ€ť to leave the building. When Lebron James departed Cleveland in 2010, the city was in uproar. Jerseys were burned. Billboards were taken down and disrespecting letters were written.
James decided to take his talents to South Beach and partner with Dwayne Wade in hopes of championship. Three straight finals and two titles later and the â€śKingâ€ť has returned to the city he once called home â€“ Cleveland.
BENTON â€“ Despite walking 10 Little Rock Vipers on Wednesday night, the Benton McClendonâ€™s came away with a 9-2 victory at Bernard Holland Park in American Legion action. The game was originally supposed to be played at Gary Hogan Field (UALR) in Little Rock, but the site changed and the start time moved from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
