SHERIDAN â€“ In their last matchup in mid-June, the Benton Panther legion high school team jumped on the Bryant Everett Black Sox with an 8-run fourth inning in an 11-1 Benton victory. On Saturday in the first round of the Zone Tournament in Sheridan, Everett turned the tables on the Panthers with the Black Sox shutting them out 10-0.
Panther Alex Graves stymied Everett in the teamsâ€™ previous match, but the Black Sox got to Graves with two runs in the first, two in the third and four in the bottom of the fifth inning to take an 8-0 lead.
ARLINGTON, Tenn. â€“ Austin Kelly gave up an unearned run in a complete-game finals win and the Bryant Everett Black Sox needed just three hits for a 2-1 championship game win over the St. Louis Gamers in the Arlington, Tenn. American Legion Tournament.
Everett defeated Elite Sports Academy 4-3 in the semifinal and took down Arkansas Express 4-2 in the quarters.
CABOT â€“ Down 1-0 after four innings, the Benton McClendonâ€™s put on a power surge in the top of the fifth scoring four runs and holding on to a 4-3 victory over Cabot Centennial Bank in Cabot on Monday night.
BENTON â€” The Benton Lady Panther softball team has been on Cloud 9 for the past month after winning the 6A State Championship. Despite taking the top spot on the diamond, the awards have continued into the offseason as well.
Tuesday during the All-Star Game in Conway, Head Coach Heidi Cox was named the 2013-14 Arkansas High School Coaches Association Outstanding Coach of the Year, adding to an already marvelous season.
