CABOT â€“ The Benton bowling teams competed in the 7A/6A State Championship on Wednesday and the boys finished third overall (10 teams total) with 4,177 total pins, while the girls took fourth (10 teams) at 3,276. On the boysâ€™ end, host Cabot dominated with 4,880 pins, a new state record, and Cabotâ€™s Cayden Cook took top honors bowling and 842 series, another state record. Bentonville took second at 4,263.
For the girls, Bentonville would come out on top with 3,647, Cabot second (3,566) and Rogers third (3,316).
PEARCY â€“ Struggling a bit in the first half, the Benton Lady Panthers cleaned it up in the second to come away with a 44-37 victory over the Lake Hamilton Lady Wolves in 7A/6A South Conference action on Tuesday at Lake Hamilton High School. It was Bentonâ€™s fourth consecutive win after losing three straight.
The Lady Panthers (17-5, 9-3 South) jumped on the Lady Wolves 8-2 early with the help of two Braxton Chumley 3-pointers, and would lead 18-10 in the second quarter before allowing Lake Hamilton to come back and tie it 22-22 at the half.
LITTLE ROCK â€” In the six previous games against Glen Rose prior to last Thursday, the Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals were 1-5. After tromping the Lady Beavers 42-22 Thursday, Harmony Grove extended its season at least one more game after beating Glen Rose 43-31 Tuesday in the first round of the 5-3A District Tournament at Episcopal in Little Rock.
