BENTON – Despite a less-than-stellar performance, the Benton Panthers came away with a 50-44 victory over the Sheridan Yellowjackets in 7A/6A South conference play on Tuesday night in Benton Arena. It was the Panthers’ 12th consecutive victory and Benton is ranked seventh in the state in the Hog Country Top 10 poll.
“I did not think we played well at all tonight,” Benton Coach Chris Nail said. “We had dead legs all night. We didn’t have our usual motion. Sheridan played good. You can’t say it was all us, but I didn’t think we played well.
GLEN ROSE - When the month of February rolls around, there is just one thing on the mind of high school basketball teams; postseason play. For the Harmony Grove Cardinals, the 5-3A 2012-13 district tournament looms in the near future.
On Tuesday, the Cardinals traveled just up the street to Glen Rose for an intense rivalry-renewing game with the Beavers. After busting a four-game skid with a win over eStem on Friday, Harmony Grove added a second straight win Tuesday, defeating Glen Rose handily, 75-55.
BRYANT – Sophomore K.J. Hill poured in 20 points, Greyson Giles added 10, but their efforts fell short as the Bryant Hornets fell to the visiting Little Rock Fair War Eagles 56-48 on Tuesday night.
Despite outscoring Fair 38-35 in the second half, Bryant Head Coach Mike Abrahamson said his team wasn’t ready from the opening tip.
“We didn’t want this one for some reason,” Abrahamson said. “We weren’t ready to play.”

BAUXITE – Sophomore Ben Madison scored 16 points, senior Tyler Hill added 12 points, and the Bauxite Miners won its third consecutive conference game with a 46-37 victory over the visiting Ashdown Panthers.

“I thought offensively we got in a pretty good rhythm,” Head Coach Josh Harrison said. “We did a pretty good job of moving the ball and shot pretty well tonight.”
BRYANT- The Bryant Hornets made nine 3-pointers in a 65-52 victory over the Lake Hamilton Wolves on Tuesday night. The Bryant Hornets improve to 13-7 (2-4) on the year.

BENTON – It didn’t look promising for the Benton Lady Panthers on Tuesday night, but they remained undefeated in 7A/6A South conference play with a 33-29 victory over the El Dorado Lady Wildcats at Benton Arena. Besides a 3-2 lead at the 5:54 mark of the first quarter, the Lady Panthers wouldn’t lead again until sophomore guard Braxton Chumley hit a 3-pointer with 4:41 left in the fourth to give Benton a 28-27 lead.
