BENTON -- Over the past few years, the Benton Lady Panthers have become accustomed to big things on and off the diamond. With three 6A state runner-up finishes in the last four seasons, Benton has thrived on the field. But when the offseason hits, the thriving continues.
BRYANT – All-State Bryant Lady Hornet golfer Peyton Weaver signed a letter of intent to play golf for the University of Arkansas at Little Rock on Wednesday at Bryant High School. Weaver, who was All-State at Stuttgart before moving to Bryant her sophomore season, was All-State at Bryant all three years and was the third-best golfer this season in the Overall State Golf Championship in Little Rock.
BRYANT – Bryant Lady Hornet senior Kayla Jolley is joining a former Lady Hornet as she signed a letter of intent to play for the Ouachita Baptist University Lady Tigers on Wednesday at Bryant High School. Jolley joins former Bryant softball player Carly Yazza as a Lady Tiger.
“I’m so excited joining Carly because we’ve been best friends for years,” Jolley said. “It’ll help me get used to the environment. She can teach me the ropes so I can be relaxed and not stress about stuff.”
BENTON – Despite struggling for his worst game of the season last week in a 35-0 loss to the Wildcats in El Dorado, senior Panther quarterback Tarek Beaugard still has a chance to break the school record of 25 touchdown passes in a season. Earlroy “Nubbin” Wray currently holds the record as Beaugard sits at 21 TDs, failing to throw for one last week and throwing a season-high three interceptions.
