BAUXITE — Harmony Grove and Bauxite engaged in the 2014 preseason’s final tuneup Tuesday in The Pit. With both teams vying for a good start to the season, Tuesday’s scrimmage was full of ups and also had a few downs in the mix. But Bauxite prevailed in the end, 10-7.
After an exciting game of back-and-forth touchdowns between the Pulaski Academy Bruins and Bryant Hornets, Bryant came out on top as the victor, taking down PA 49-35 in a benefit game at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock. This game was different compared to other football games. The first three quarters were 12 minutes long featuring the varsity teams, and then the fourth quarter was 8 minutes long for the junior varsity teams to face off against each other.
“Overall, taking the positive side, you know we did a lot of good things,” Bryant Head Coach Paul Calley said.
BENTON – After a bit of shellshock to start the game, the Benton Panthers, after giving up a game-opening kickoff return by the Mills Comets, responded with 49 straight points to take down the Comets 49-14 in a benefit at Panthers Stadium in Benton.
“We were dead starting the game,” Benton Coach Scott Neathery said. “We started out slow and they ran the kickoff back. I felt we weren’t ready to play the game. I don’t know if it was shock or what it was, but we got back in the ballgame and I feel like we played well.”
