HOLLENBECK: Don't count the skinnies out; there are some that are 'magnificent'

March 12, 2012

When I referred to them as a group, it was by the moniker "The Magnificent Seven."
This wasn't a band of American gunmen hired to protect a small agricultural village in Mexico from a group of marauding Mexican bandits. Indeed they bore no resemblance to Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, James Coburn, Robert Vaughn, Brad Dexter, and Horst Buchholz, who portrayed the mighty seven in the movie that was actually a western-style remake based on Akira Kurosawa's 1954 Japanese film "Seven Samurai."
Nope. This was the feline version, but they were indeed magnificent.

The agency's food storage facility was in serious need of renovation and several groups and individuals provided the funding needed to solve this problem, volunteers said.

BENTON – The Lady Panthers did something Saturday that no other Benton High School softball team had completed in a very long time. After getting past Springdale Harber in the first round of the Bootsie Gordon Tournament in Benton, the Lady Panthers beat Dardanelle 6-0 and Nashville 7-0 to advance to the finals against Greenbrier. After a crazy homerun call early in the game, the Lady Panthers prevailed to beat Greenbrier 12-2 to become tournament champions.
