Lafern Swint Hunter, 91, of Paducah, Kentucky, formerly of Benton, died Tuesday Jan. 31, in Paducah. Lafern was a homemaker and a charter member of Park View United Methodist Church in Benton. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Beulah Swint, husband Glen, Sister Melba Lambert, and a granddaughter, Nikki Chapman.
She is survived by her son, David Hunter of Little Rock; daughter, Glynith Garner and husband, John of Paducah, Kentucky; grandson, Larry Garner of Kentucky; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nephew, Ronny Lambert of Benton.
Glenn Wayne Abbott, 63, of Searcy, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jan. 30, surrounded by his family.Â Â He was born March 25, 1948 in Benton to the late A.G. and Murl Edwards Abbott.Â Prior to retiring, Mr. Abbott was employed with Coca-Cola for thirty-five years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Angela Michelle Abbott.
BRYANT â€“ Bryant Lady Hornetsâ€™ senior distance runner Ashlyn Lessenberry had a decent idea where she wanted to go to college when she found out where her best friend was going to play softball. Lessenberry is following her friend, Kayla Sory, to Henderson State University as she signed a letter of intent to run for the Lady Reddies in the Bryant Gym on Wednesday morning.
