Patricia Ann Garrett, 63, of Benton, passed away Friday, Feb. 10.Â She was born April 21, 1948, in Nebraska City, Neb.
Mrs. Garrett taught school in the Bryant School District and then went on to be a teacher/counselor in the Harmony Grove District.
She was a member of the Apostolic Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church in Benton, the National Education Association and the Arkansas Education Association.
Mrs. Garrett was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin Edgar VanWinkle, Sr. and Rena Louise Willis VanWinkle; and her brother, Melvin Edgar VanWinkle II.
Dr. John D. Wright, was born Aug.15, 1925, in Saline County, and passed away at his home surrounded by loved ones in Benton on Feb. 10.
He served as a LtÂ J.G. in the U.S. Navy during World War II, during which time he eloped with Jeana Merle White on March 22, 1945.Â He went to college and medical school through the V-12 program and practiced medicine for more than 50 years.
He was active in the community and served many years on the Benton School Board. He was a deacon at First Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School for 56 years.
Cecil E. Rollon, 86, of Benton, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 8, in Siloam Springs.Â
He was born Jan. 22, 1926, in Mena to the late Marvin and Mary Rollon.
Mr. Rollon retired as a superintendent from Owasso Furniture Co. He enjoyed reading, woodworking, and teaching Sunday School.Â He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Siloam Springs.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Alice Mae Rollon; one brother, Elmer Rollon; and his two sisters, Maxine Richmond and Eva Rollon.
