Ada Ruth Vandergrift

Ada Ruth Vandergrift, 85, of Benton, was received by Our Heavenly Father on May 18, 2014. Ruth was a member and Sunday School Teacher for many years at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.  She retired from North American Phillips after 40 plus years and Walmart as a door greeter after 18 years.  “Nanny” as her grandchildren called her, will be sorely missed by all her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Pete T. Vandergrift; daughter, Linda F. Vandergrift and son, Jeffery L. Vandergrift.

Garry L. Dempsey

Garry L. Dempsey, 60, of Haskell, passed away May 19, 2014.  He was born May 15, 1954 in Harrisburg, to Claudie and Pat Dempsey.  Garry worked in Maintenance at the Arkansas State Hospital and loved being outdoors and watching his grandchildren play sports.
Garry is survived by his wife of 42 years, Suzy Dempsey of Haskell, son, Matt Dempsey and wife, Debbie of Benton, brothers, Rodger, Stanley, Rocky and William Dempsey all of Benton, grandchildren, Lauren and Kristen Dempsey of Benton.
Cremation was through Ashby Funeral Home.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Helen Catherine Stone

Helen Catherine Stone, a resident, of Royal, and a former resident of Harrison, passed from this life on Saturday, May 17, 2014. She was 77 years old.
Helen Catherine (Davis) Stone was born November 11, 1937 to George and Loreine (Beins) Davis in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She attended School in Harrison, graduating with the class of 1956. Helen was crowned Miss Harrison in 1954.
