Zachary 'Zach' Ryan Bynum

Zachary “Zach” Ryan Bynum, 18, of Bauxite went to be with the Lord Jan. 7. 
Zach was born in Little Rock, Ark., on Oct. 17, 1994, to Karla Marina and Dewayne Bynum.
He was a senior at Bauxite High School and a member of Pleasant Hills Baptist Church.
Zach was a strong-willed, quick-witted, fun-loving young man. He was a momma’s boy and was always playing with her hair.
He loved playing video games, hanging out with his friends, rapping, eating hot wings and making everyone laugh.

LITTLE ROCK - There has never been a sports team that strives off having its teeth kicked in by opponents. For the Harmony Grove Cardinals, they are not a fan of it either. But on Friday, the first game back from Christmas break, the Cardinals welcomed Jessieville into Haskell, but walked away battered and bruised after getting mauled by the Lions.

Down big early, Bryant loses heartbreaker

PINE BLUFF- The Bryant Lady Hornets lost a heartbreaker 40-39 to the Pine Bluff Lady Zebras on Tuesday night at McFadden Field House.
“I thought we really played really well in the second half,” Bryant Coach Brad Matthews said. “[We] made a run at them and got the lead. They made a play with a second to go to beat us. We’ll keep working to get better.”

Lady Panthers annihilate War Eagles

BENTON – The Benton Lady Panthers started their 7A/6A South conference game against JA Fair on a 16-0 run on their way to a 62-14 victory over the Lady War Eagles on Tuesday night at Benton Arena.
“We got through the game with no injuries,” Benton Coach Jerry Chumley said. “We executed everything pretty good and shot the ball OK. We’re healthy heading to Sheridan Friday night.”

Marcelee Cooper

Marcelee Cooper, 85, of Jacksonville, formerly of Bauxite, passed away on Jan. 7. She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Jacksonville and the Faith Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Cooper was a retired Southern Baptist minister’s wife and a homemaker. She spent more then 40 years serving alongside her husband and in many capacities of ministry in several churches around Arkansas, including Almyra Baptist Church and Wilson First Baptist Church, where she taught women in Sunday School, led the Women’s Missionary Union, and sang in the church choir.

Pearl Marie Williams Nickels

Pearl Marie Williams Nickels, 88, of Benton, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 7.  She was born Dec. 9, 1924 in Texas. 
Mrs.. Nickels was preceded in death by her parents of Corpus Christie, Texas; and her son, Daniel B. Nickels Jr. of Louisiana.

Woody Eugene Putman

Woody Eugene Putman, 56, of Mabelvale, left this life down here on Saturday, Jan. 5.  He was born Aug. 28, 1956, to Woody A. and Beulah M. Putman of Bauxite.
Mr. Putman was a forklift operator at Reynolds Metals in Bauxite.
He was predeceased by his sister, Linda Darlene Putman.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sons, Leslie West Putman and Troy Eugene Putman and wife Kim, all of Benton; two sisters, Shirley Miller of Benton and Rebecca Bolding of Bryant; and two grandchildren, Salina Putman and Spencer Levi Putman.

Maci Leighann Harris

Maci Leighann Harris, 10, of Otter Creek went to be with her Lord on Jan. 2.  She was a very outgoing and active young lady. 
Maci loved going to church at Oak Park Baptist Church, where she was very involved with the GMA girls ministry. She also enjoyed playing tennis and riding horses.  She was a very loving sister, daughter, granddaughter and friend.  She attended Otter Creek Elementary School.
Maci was preceded in death by her grandfather, Pastor David Harris.

David Edward Harris

Pastor David Edward Harris, 64, of Little Rock went to be with his Lord on Jan. 1. He was born July 18, 1948, to Leo and Mary Harris in Little Rock.
David was a very devoted and loving husband, son, father and grandfather. He dedicated his life to helping and mentoring others; he truly had a servant’s heart.
He was the pastor for 36 years of Oak Park Baptist Church in Little Rock. He was an avid sports fan and loved listening to music.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Harris, and his beautiful granddaughter, Maci Harris.

Billy “Andy” Dortch, 55, of Sardis died Sunday, Jan. 6. He was born Nov. 13, 1957, in Little Rock.
He was employed at Arkansas Trailer and previously affiliated with Great Dane Trailer for 19 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Oral Dortch of Sardis.
