January 20, 2015

A Benton couple is facing charges after an investigation into allegations of child abuse revealed two children in the home had been exposed to drugs.

James McCauley, 38, and Christie Smith-McCauley, 34, were arrested without incident Monday, and were charged with two counts of introduction of a chemical substance into the body of another and two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.

Detectives with the Benton Police Department were notified of the case in December by investigators with the Arkansas State Police.
