The Benton City Council will hold its regularly-scheduled meeting tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the Benton Municipal Complex.
Members of the Finance Committee will present to the council the 2015 budget for general fund, animal control, and parks and street funds, now up for adoption.

â€¢Â A resolution recognizing the service of Lt. Rodney Wright and authorizing the presentation of his badge and service weapon

Robert "Bob" Burrell Bennett, 79, of Benton, passed away peacefully on Dec. 2, 2014. Bob was born Dec. 24, 1934, in Van Buren.
Bobâ€™s first job was a paper route in Fort Smith at the age of 9 and he was a hard worker his entire life. He graduated from Fort Smith High School before attending University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. He was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, which he loyally supported through the years because of his deep appreciation for that organization.
Walter Wesley Laster, age 72, passed away Dec. 4, 2014, at his home. He was born at his family home in Benton on Feb. 22, 1942, to Thomas and Vera Laster.
Walter was a graduate of Bauxite High School and Henderson State Teachers College (now Henderson State University). He went through Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida, and served aboard the U.S.S. Kittiwake, ASR-13.
After his Naval service, he was accepted into management training for Missouri Pacific and retired from Union Pacific in Omaha, Nebraska, after 30 years of service.
