Two innings seal Lady Miners' fate

March 14, 2012

It was a rough couple of innings for the Bauxite Lady Miners softball team as they gave up six runs apiece in the second and third innings in their 12-1 loss to the Magnent Cove Lady Panthers on Tuesday in Bauxite. Senior Bauxite pitcher Bethany Edwards retired the side in order on four pitches in the first inning, but errors and mental lapses by the Lady Miners led to 34 pitches each in the next two innings.

BENTON – The Benton Lady Panthers softball team continued their dominance on Tuesday when they welcomed the Nashville Lady Scrappers into Lady Panther Park. The Lady Panthers beat Nashville 7-0 in the Bootsie Gordon Tournament on Saturday, on their way to winning the tournament.

Tuesday was a much harder contest for Benton, but the Lady Panthers did prevail at the end winning 2-1 in the eighth inning.

Starting pitcher Lauren White allowed a hit to Nashville in the first, but was able to escape unscathed after forcing a ground out and getting a strikeout to end the inning.
