Spring ends on high note

BENTON – After a 6-6 record last year, it’s best since the 2005 season, the Benton Panther football team closes its spring portion of its schedule, six practices including Friday night’s spring scrimmage at Panthers Stadium, featuring its hurry-up offense.

SMH, Red Cross set partnership for '100 Days of Summer' drive

Vacations and summer activities often result in a decline in blood donations during the summer. That’s why Saline Memorial Hospital has partnered with the American Red Cross for the “100 Days of Summer, 100 Days of Hope” Campaign.

The aim of the campaign is to increase blood donations during the summer months.
SMH is hosting a blood drive on Monday, June 9, in the SMH Health Education Building-Classroom 1.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Man arrested for 4th DWI

A Saline County man has been charged with his fourth driving while intoxicated offense and his bond was set at $250,000.

On June 1, during a traffic stop, James Mickel Reep performed poorly on a field sobriety test and provided a breath sample of 0.26. He was booked into the Saline County Detention Center for driving while intoxicated, fourth offense, careless and prohibited driving and driving on a suspended driver’s license, said Saline County Prosecuting Attorney Ken Casady.
