Lee Roy Parson, 70, of Benton, passed away Tuesday Oct. 11, at Saline Memorial Hospital. He was born August 1, 1941 in Benton to the late Zack and Ida Greenlee Parson. He was a graduate of Bauxite High School and attended Quachita Baptist University. Mr. Parson was a retired logging contractor and maintenance lead at Rineco. He was of Baptist faith.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Armetha Ward and a brother, Etheridge Parson.
Mark Steven Yant, 53, of Benton died Sunday, October 9. He was born on October 26, 1957 in Little Rock. Mr. Yant was a beloved son, husband, father, and true friend. In the early 1990’s, he worked as a union organizer for UFCW Local 1583/2008. It was during this time he met his wife, Stephanie. He organized three years while on a leave of absence from the Kroger Company, where he was employed for over 38 years. Mr. Yant was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, fisherman, golfer, Razorbacker supreme, and loved by all who knew him.

Joe Lee Joey Richards Jr., 40, of Benton was found October 5, after he had been missing for a year. He was born June 15, 1971 in Benton. Joe was a construction worker, a US Army Veteran and attended Rose Hill Nazarene Church in Little Rock. He was preceded in death by his mother, Eileen Lou Richards, grandparents, Mick and Zella Richards, Samuel and Clara Goans.

Alta Christine Bradbury Salley, 81, passed away Sunday, Oct. 9, in Denton, Texas. She was born February 17, 1930 at Benton, to Thomas Franklin and Esther May Pitcock Bradbury. She married Horace Franklin Salley on February 22, 1947 in Benton. Alta was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Carpenter's Chapter, Sherman, Texas. She was a Past Matron and a 50 year member. She was a retired farmer.
She was preceded in death by husband of 50 years, Horace Salley; son, Curtis Joe Salley; grandsons, Ronald and Frank Hamm; 8 brothers and sisters.

The Bryant Hornets boys and girls tennis team competed in the 7A Central conference tournament on Monday at Burns Park Tennis Center, but the Hornets could not advance a player to the semifinals held today.
In girls singles play, senior Callie Hogancamp defeated Meg Bumpers 6-3, 6-1 of Mount St. Mary’s in the first round, and sophomore Whitney Butler beat Emma Baird of Cabot 6-3, 6-2 in the first round as well.

Michael David Sample, 51, of Little Rock, was reunited with his parents in heaven on Friday, Oct. 7, after suffering fatal injuries in a motorcycle accident. Mike was born in Little Rock on March 25, 1960. to Jack “Coogan” and Betty Clair Sample.Â
Mike worked as a conductor for Union Pacific Railroad, a job he relished with the co-workers he enjoyed being around.
Perry D. Patterson, 53, of Judsonia, passed away Saturday, Oct. 8. He was born Dec. 19, 1957, in Fairfield, Iowa, to the late Leon and Louise (Janes) Patterson. He was a cowboy and rancher.
 He is survived by one daughter, Kylie Patterson of Alexander; two sisters Peggy Wilson and husband Garry and Patty Mask and husband Phillip, all of Bryant; one brother, Phil Patterson and wife Kelle of Benton; Dione Patterson; one stepson, Zachary White of Benton; many nieces and nephews' and other relatives and friends.
Elizabeth Mary McGriff, 70, of Benton, passed away Friday, Oct. 7. She was born Jan. 8, 1941, in Burlington, Iowa.
Mrs. McGriff worked more than 15 years as a supervisor in vending and was part owner of Bill’s Auto Repair.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor M. and Elizabeth Mae Stodt; daughter, Lorry Hawk; and a brother, William Anthony Stodt.

Katherine Ann Crofford Copeland, 44, of Alexander passed away Friday, Oct. 7. She was born Feb. 10, 1967 in Little Rock.
Katherine was a direct care staff member at Friendship Community Care and a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church. She was involved with helping with the Special Olympics.
Katherine was preceded in death by her father, James Richard Crofford Jr.; and an uncle, Don Newkirk.
Terry Lee Jackson, 48, of Malvern, passed away Thursday, Oct. 6. He was born June 28, 1963 in Benton. Terry was a U.S. Army veteran, a carpenter and of the Baptist faith.Â
He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Jackson; and his stepfather, Woodrow House.
He is survived by his mother, Martha Jean Williams House; three brothers, Rickey Jackson and wife Teresa, Randy Jackson and Michael Jackson; a sister, Janice Hicks and husband David; and his wife, Kimberly Jackson.
A graveside service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Oct.10, at Fairplay Cemetery.
