Benton police focus on parks this June

The Benton Police Department has a specific issue that it focuses on each month. During the month of June, it will focus on criminal activities at city parks.
These activities include vehicle racing, possible drug use, people fighting and people using vulgar language or slurs near children.

Arkansas Comic Con set for this weekend at the Benton Event Center

Comic lovers, science fiction enthusiasts and self-proclaimed nerds should get their costumes ready for the 2014 Little Rock Comic Convention taking place Saturday, June 7, at the Benton Event Center.

Doors will open at 9 a.m. and events are scheduled throughout the day. Included will be a showing of "Captain America: The First Avenger" at 9:05 a.m, Transformers: Dark of the Moon" will air at 11:30 a.m., and at 2:05 p.m. there will be a showing of "Thor: The Dark World."

Celebrate National Running Day this Wednesday

June 3, 2014

Wednesday, June 4, is designated as National Running Day. Runners are encouraged to lace up their running shoes and hit the pavement.

The Little Rock Marathon will partner with Go! Running and Rock City Running to host a free group run at 6 a.m. on National Running Day in Murray Park in Little Rock. Participants are asked to meet at the pavilion entrance.

This event is held annually on the first Wednesday in June as an effort to promote running/walking as a healthy, easy and accessible form of exercise.
