BREAKING NEWS: Arkansas House delays vote on Medicaid expansion

LITTLE ROCK — Arkansas House Speaker Davy Carter challenged opponents of the state's compromise Medicaid expansion Tuesday to offer an alternative that could break a legislative stalemate threatening the future of a program that provides subsidized coverage to more than 93,000 people.

Johnnie Inez Bryant, 67, of Benton passed away Sunday Feb. 23, 2014 at her home. She was born Jan. 27, 1947 in Benton to the late Hubert Lamar Keen and Frankie Christina Moody Keen.
Johnnie was a 1966 graduate of Benton High School, a housewife and a member of Grape Chapel Church of God.

Plumer Burnett Peeler

Plumer Burnett Peeler, 89, of Malvern passed away Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014. 
He was born Sept. 15, 1924 in Benton. 
Mr. Peeler was a retired carpenter. A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Peeler served with the 83rd Infantry during World War II. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge, Battle of Hedge Row and Normandy, receiving several medals for his service including the Purple Heart.
Mr. Peeler was a 50-year member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local 217.
