Ludy Nancy Hudson, 98, of Benton, died Sep5. 29, 2014.  She was born Oct. 15, 1915 in Eaglette.
Mrs. Hudson was a homemaker and a Baptist who loved to cook and feed people, sew, take care of family, read, travel and visit. 
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Agnes Jones; her husband, Dillie A. Hudson; her daughter, Dillie Jean Hudson; her sister, Rena Douthit; and her brother, Aaron Jones.

Secret Service chief resigns after security lapses

WASHINGTON (AP) — Secret Service Director Julia Pierson resigned Wednesday, a day after bitingly critical questioning by Congress about a White House security breach. There had been increasing calls for her departure during the day.

Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said she offered her resignation and he accepted it.

Pierson will be replaced by Joseph Clancy, a former special agent in charge of the president's protective detail who retired in 2011. Pierson has been with the agency for 30 years.

She was widely criticized during and after her testimony Tuesday.

WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. health officials have warned for months that someone infected with Ebola could unknowingly carry the virus to this country, and there is word now that it has happened: A traveler in a Dallas hospital became the first patient diagnosed in the U.S.

Texas health officials said there were no other suspected cases in the state, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention immediately sought to calm fears that one case would spread widely.
