In hopes of raising the last bit of money for a new building in Bryant, Civitan Services will be hosting a murder mystery dinner.
"Murder at the Masquerade," which will serve as Civitan Services' largest fundraiser of the year, will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, at the Benton Event Center.
During the event, the audience will be able to try to figure out with their table mates a mystery portrayed by a group of professional actors from Murder Mystery Company in Nashville.
Week 1 of high school football in Saline County was pretty good. Of course, with the Salt Bowl at the top of the list, how could the week be bad? Not to mention it was the greatest Salt Bowl in recent memory with Benton snapping Bryant’s eight-game winning streak, pulling to a 14-14 final.
Harmony Grove won its fifth straight opener against Poyen while Bauxite and Glen Rose fell victim once again in Week 1 contests.
This week, however, should be much different from a week ago. Blowout after blowout is slated for Week 2. Here are my picks for Week 2 of the season:
The Arkansas Department of Correction Agriculture Division will host its annual horse auction on Saturday, Oct. 4, at the Saline County Fairgrounds in Benton.
The public will have the opportunity to bid on 25-30 retired horses, colts and mules from ADC's working herd.
Those interested in bidding on the animals may view and ride them from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 3 at the fairgrounds.Â
On the day of the sale, the horses may be viewed from 8 a.m. until noon and the sale will then begin at 1 p.m.
