BHS shot at 2nd time since July 28

Benton police officers are investigating another incident involving a person shooting at Benton High School.

Saturday, the principal of Benton Junior High, Curt Barger reported an individual shot the digital billboard and shot through a glass door of the cafeteria, according to the Benton Police Department report.

The estimated damage is approximately $2,400.

A similar incident was reported earlier this month, but officers are unsure if the incidents are related, said Lt. Kevin Russell, Benton Police Department spokesperson.

Wet/dry to appear on ballot; judge gives partial ruling on issue

The Saline County wet/dry petition will appear on the Nov. 4 general election ballot.

A lawsuit challenging the validity of some of the signatures had been filed by Saline County residents David Bullock, Tiffany Francis and Bryan Keaton.

The plaintiffs had challenged Saline County Clerk Doug Curtis' office's certification of some signatures on the petition asking the court to allow the sale and manufacture of alcoholic beverages in Saline County.
