Shirley Mae Boyette, 77 of Benton died Tuesday, September 13, in Little Rock. She was born October 9, 1933 in Keevil, Arkansas. Shirley was a retired teachers aide for the Benton Schools and a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George H. Curtis Sr. and Eva Burrow Curtis, husband, Donald Boyette, son, Dwain Boyette,Â and two brothers, George H. Curtis Jr., Billy Bob Curtis.
Morris Scott Smith, 47, of Benton, died Monday, Sept. 12, at Saline Memorial Hospital.Â Mr. Smith was born Oct. 29,1963 in Little Rock, to the Rev. Morris L. and Elizabeth Reed Smith.Â He attended Arkansas Tech University and was a graduate of Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy.Â He had been a deputy sheriff in Marion and Yell counties and was last employed by U.S. Security Services at Saline Memorial Hospital.Â
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Benton.
Â Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his father; a niece, Brooke Cramer; and a nephew, Andrew Barton.
Playing at Nutterâ€™s Chapel Golf Course in Conway, the Bryant Hornets golf team struggled, coming in last place with the Conway Wampus Cats and Cabot Panthers also playing.
â€śHopefully we have gotten out the bad round of play,â€ť Bryant coach Keith Dale said. â€śMost of the team played horribly, but there were some really good performances.â€ť
Conway took first place with a 154, Cabot had a 157 and Bryant followed with a 170. The Bryant Lady Hornets also came in third with a 147. Conway took first with a 124 and Cabot had a 129.
Evelyn Yvonne Jackson, 47, of Benton, passed away Sunday, September 11 in Bryant.Â She was born March 3, 1964, in Benton to J.T. Raper, and the late Elsie Mae Raper.
Ms. Jackson worked in the customer service department of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette for 17 years, and was a member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church in Little Rock.
Martha Lois Kennedy Houston, 64, of Benton died September 11, in Little Rock. She was born February 2, 1947 in DeWitt, AR. Martha was self-employed and a member of the Presbyterian Church. Martha also loved to teach reading, was a Master Gardener, a lifetime member of the Home Extension Club and was a volunteer firefighter in Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents, Irvin and Sarah Helen Kennedy, husband, Jim L. Houston, and a sister, Rita Kennedy Purdy.
Steven Sean Miller, 36, of Alexander died Friday September 9.
He is survived by his mother Sandra Ridling and stepfather Lindel Ridling of Alexander; father Larry Miller of Pampa, Texas; a sister Amanda Miller and her husband Tim Miller and nephew Layne Miller of Benton; a brother Shane Ridling of Alexander; a stepsister, Allison Smart of Hot Springs, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Bryant and Geoff Gattin, Jay Smith, Ricky Bryant, Scott Evans and Marshall Johnson.
Col. Theodore R. â€śTedâ€ť Dale, Ret. USAF, made his last earthly flight on 9-Sep-11 at 15:12 hours.
Cody Wayne Landrum, 16, of Paron went to heaven to run into the Lord's arms on Sept.
Funeral services for Ruby Elizabeth Nielsen, 87, of Jacksonville, Texas, are scheduled for 10 a.m., Monday, Sept.12, at East Side Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Texas, with the Rev. Calvin Gould officiating. Burial will be held at Delamar Cemetery in Manning, Ark., on Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 1 p.m.
Mrs. Nielsen passed away Friday, Sept. 9, in Jacksonville, Texas. She was born July 14, 1924 in Manchester, Ark.
Mrs. Nielsen held a doctorate degree and she was a homemaker.
Regina Denise Rider-Mize, 44, of Benton passed away on Aug. 31.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Carolyn Rider.
Regina is survived by her daughter, Haylie Rider; a granddaughter, Aadison; her father, Richard Rider; a brother, Curtis Rider; a sister, Lawanna Rider; two nephews, Sam Rider and Tyler Rider; one niece, Hannah Rider; and a host of family and friends that will love and miss her dearly.
A memorial service for Regina was held on Sept. 8 at New Life Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers donations for the memorial service may be made at Dial & Dudley Funeral Home.
