Arkansas woman recovering from fraternity accident

JONESBORO — An 18-year-old Arkansas State University student is recovering after she was impaled in the neck with a golf club during a freak accident at a fraternity house.

The Jonesboro Sun reports Natalie Jo Eaton was upgraded from critical to serious condition Wednesday. She has been at the Regional Medical Center at Memphis since the Aug. 19 accident.

Arkansas revenue slightly up in August

LITTLE ROCK — A boost in sales and income tax collections pushed Arkansas' revenue in August slightly above that of August 2013 and above what was expected, state finance officials said Wednesday.

The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration said the state's net available revenue last month totaled $398.3 million, which $10.5 million above August 2013 and $12.3 million above what had been forecast. The state's revenue for the fiscal year that began July 1 totaled $801.4 million, which is $3.4 million above the same point last year and $2.5 million above forecast.
