The Saline County Sheriff's Office warns residents that a male is calling residents and scamming them into giving him money.
The man claimed that people he calls failed to show up for jury duty and tells the victims they have an outstanding warrant, said Amanda Best, administrative assistant for the Saline County Sheriff's Office.
"The Saline County Sheriff's Office does not call and threaten to arrest you if you do not show up for jury duty," she said.
If individuals receive a similar call, they should contact the sheriff's office at 501-303-5609.
Charles Butler, chairman of the Arkansas Fire Prevention Commission, presented Bryant Fire Chief J. P. Jordan with a check for $700 Monday to purchase 10 smoke detectors for the hearing impaired, Jordan said. The department previously received 200 smoke detectors to give out to residents.
Also represented at the presentation was Bryant Mayor Jill Dabbs and Assistant Chief Brandon Futch.
