FORT SMITH â€“ The CASC Racers, a local year-round swim team, claimed third place overall in the State Championship July 25-27 in Fort Smith.Â The Racers Women claimed the third spot overall as well, just missing second place by seven points, while the men claimed fifth place. There were 52 Racers competing at the state level.Â The Racers had 16 state champion swims, including four individual champions and three relay teams. There were 60 top three swims, and 180 top eight swims.Â The Racers had many AA, AAA, and AAAA swims.

Dale L. Harrison of Benton, age 73, passed away on Friday, Aug. 15, 2014.
He was born July 18, 1941, in Bauxite to Melvin and Verda O'Kelly Harrison.
He was of the Baptist faith, was a U.S. Army veteran and worked as an LPTN.
He is survived by two sisters, Jeanie Cockrill of Benton and Patricia Galipeault of Springfield, Ga.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lilla Mae Overton Harrison; and one brother, Terry L. Harrison.
A graveside service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014, at Tulip Cemetery.
A memorial service and family visitation for Darryl Wayne Shepherd, 51, of LaVergne Tenn., will be held Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, in the fellowship hall of Grace Bible Fellowship Church, 14 Beaverfork Road in Conway, Ark.
Mr. Shepherd was born Oct. 13, 1962, in Little Rock, the son of Jack W. Shepherd (Sandra) and Carolyn Ward Crist of Alexander, Ark.. He passed away on July 6, 2014, at his home from complications of respiratory disease.
