Everett a win away from title

NORTH LITTLE ROCK – In the semifinals of the Junior American Legion State Tournament between the Bryant Everett Black Sox and Sheridan, the two teams went into extra innings tied 1-1. Everett cemented its spot in the state championship game today as Bryant scored three runs in the top of the eighth and Beaux Bonvillain, who relieved in the third inning, shut Sheridan down for the 4-1 win. Bryant also defeated Paragould 4-0 in the second game of the day on Jake East’s shutout and will play Sheridan today at 5 p.m. in the final.

King’s return not just great for Cavs

Elvis is not the only “King” to leave the building. When Lebron James departed Cleveland in 2010, the city was in uproar. Jerseys were burned. Billboards were taken down and disrespecting letters were written.

James decided to take his talents to South Beach and partner with Dwayne Wade in hopes of championship. Three straight finals and two titles later and the “King” has returned to the city he once called home – Cleveland.

Richard (Rick) Franklin Simmons, Jr.

Richard (Rick) Franklin Simmons Jr., 55, of Benton went to his heavenly home on July 14, 2014, after a long, courageous fight with pancreatic cancer.
He was born Oct. 17, 1958, to Dr. Richard and Gean Simmons in Little Rock.
Rick was a retired employee of Little Rock Wastewater, where he had 21 years of service.
In addition, he worked for Dr. Tim Scott as his lab technician.
Rick honorably served 4 years in the U.S. Army and was a faithful member of Centerpoint Church.

Class 6A state tourney postponed on Friday. Will continue on Saturday.
Because of winter weather which dropped snow and ice over the entire state, the Arkansas Activities...
