Rachel V. Thornberry Weems

Rachel V. Thornberry Weems, 91, of Benton, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013.  She was born in Marianna, on April 22, 1922 to the late Joe and Ida Thornberry.  She was a member of Benton Foursquare Church and retired as a nurse aid. 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Weems and one brother, JT Thornberry. 

Jimmie M. Smith

Jimmie M. Smith, 71, passed away May 7, 2013.  Jimmie was born Dec. 10, 1941, in Texarkana to parents Bonnie McCoy and Carlotta Smith.
Jimmie attended First Pentecostals of Benton. He retired from UALR, where he was an IT specialist. He attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. He was a civil engineer and a Microsoft engineer with certifications in C++ and Cisco.

Betty Jane Hester

Betty Jane Hester, 78, of Paron passed away May 8, 2013.
She was born Sept. 11, 1934, in Warren to Murray and Gladys Watson, and was the youngest of four children. Her early years were spent in Banks before moving to Saline County.
Betty was a retired hairstylist, a telecommunications operator with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and a member of the North Fork Missionary Baptist Church in Paron.
In addition  to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Hester; and her siblings, Jimmy Watson, Louise Greer and Maudine Stroud.

T.O. Miller

T.O. (Talmage Oscar) Miller, 85, of Bryant was welcomed into Heaven on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, while in the presence of his family at the Heartland Rehab and Care Center in Benton.
He was born Feb. 2 1928, in Zion. He was a member of Oak Park Baptist Church in Little Rock.

Patricia Colleen Southard

Patricia Colleen Southard of Benton, daughter of Winnie Merrel Robins Runsick and the late Jack Norman Wilson, was born May 23, 1955, in Yakima, Wash. She died May 6, 2013, at Saline Memorial Hospital in Benton, at the age of 57 years, 11 months and 13 days. She was united in marriage to Michael Southard on July 11, 1977, in Moko. She was a certified nursing assistant employed by Arkansas Health Center for many years.
She was preceded in death by her father.

John Caton

John Caton, 64, Little Rock died Friday, May 3, 2013. He was a self-employed carpenter.
He is survived by his son, Jeffrey Caton of Benton and brother William Caton of Texarkana.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a. m. on Thursday, May 9, at Smith Creek Cemetery. 
There will be an open visitation.

Linda Simpson

Linda Simpson, 64, of Central City died Monday, May 6, in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 25, 1948, in Fort Smith to the late W.E. and Wilma Edmondson. She was a bank teller for First National Bank in Lavaca. 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, A.J. Shelly.

Maxine D. Lovell

Maxine D. Lovell, 90, of Benton passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at Saline Memorial Hospice in Bryant. She was born in Dunkerton, Iowa, on Sept. 1, 1922, to John William and Myrtle Henry Davis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thaddeus M. Lovell; and her brother, Hugh Davis.
She is survived by her sons, Larry Lovell of Memphis, Tenn., and Scott Lovell and wife Pat of Benton; grandchildren Thad, Cord, Brandon and wife Jennifer, Matt and April; and two great-grandchildren. Her greatest love was her family.

Willie Mae Hogue Lindsey

Willie Mae Hogue Lindsey, 100, of Plano, Texas, was called to her heavenly home on May 5, 2013. Willie Mae was born May 2, 1913, to Samuel McDowell Hogue and Rosa Brumbelow Hogue in Tull. Willie Mae married Earl Lindsey on Nov. 10, 1932, in Saline County. They owned and operated Lindsey’s Esso Station in Bauxite for many years. They were active in the Methodist Church in Bauxite and in other community activities. After retirement they made their home in Bryant. Willie Mae was a wonderful cook, seamstress and gardener. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

GLEN ROSE - Some teams go years without bringing home any tournament hardware, let alone three in one season. But for the Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals, all of the hard work has paid off. After winning the Woodlawn Tournament in comeback fashion two weeks ago, the Lady Cardinals have put together a phenomenal run, winning the 5-3A District Tournament and now the 3A Region 2 Regional over Bald Knob 5-2.
