Bryant PD arrests Kum & Go robbery suspects

Bryant police on Thursday night arrested two suspects in connection with an armed robbery that took place at the Kum & Go on Reynolds Road last week.
Keifer Collins, 18, of Little Rock is charged with felony aggravated robbery, felony theft of property, and misdemeanor tampering with physical evidence.
The second suspect’s identity cannot be released at this time because he is a minor, said Sgt. Todd Crowson.
However, due to the seriousness of the crime, he has been certified as an adult for the same charges as Collins.

Elizabeth Ann Chumley

Elizabeth Ann Chumley, 70, of Many, La., passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Toledo Nursing Center in Zwolle, La. She was born Saturday, May 30, 1942, in Garland Co.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Alice Adams; and one sister, Linda Huchingson.

Bobbie Jean (McBroom) Graham

Bobbie Jean (McBroom) Graham, 82 of Benton, died Monday, June 3, 2013. Bobbie was born July 24, 1930 in Nellyville, MO to the late Jeff McBroom and Irene (Cornelius) McBroom Miller. She is also preceded in death by husband Dr. Virgil M. Graham, step-father Arthur Miller, daughter Karen Duncan, son Jeff Graham, twin sister Betty Palmer, brother Eddie McBroom and 2 grandchildren, Lori Graham and Jason Barr.

James D. 'Donnie' McAnear

James D. "Donnie" McAnear, 62, of Heber Springs died June 3, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer.  Donnie was a graduate of Heber Springs High School and the University of Central Arkansas and served in the Arkansas Army National Guard.
Donnie was a naturally persuasive person and enjoyed a lengthy career as a salesman in the industrial supply industry. He enjoyed gardening, working in his yard and spending time on Greers Ferry Lake.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cleon D. McAnear.

Thressa Anne Collins Ledbetter

June 6, 2013

Thressa Anne Collins Ledbetter, 54, of Benton went to be with the Lord on Friday May 31, 2013. She was born Sept. 24, 1958, in Little Rock. Thressa was an extremely hard worker and loved spending time with her grandkids and loved the outdoors. She was a kind person who was loved and will be missed by many.
Thressa was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Sharp Fisher and a sister, Terri Collins.

Benton girl with rare skin condition to be subject of Family Fun Night

The Spreading Anne's Wings organization will host the "I SAW Hope" Family Fun Night on Saturday at War Memorial Stadium.
The event, which will benefit the family of a young girl with a rare skin condition, is set from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Activities will include face painting, bounce houses and presentations by Radio Disney. Tickets are $5 for children and $7 for adults.
Following the event will be a free showing on the jumbo-tron of a popular children's animated feature.

Courier accepting 2014 Pet Calendar entries until Monday

The Saline Courier is sponsoring a 2014 Pet Calendar contest, beginning Monday, as a fundraiser for its Newspapers in Education program. The top-12 vote-getters will be featured in our 2014 Pet Calendar.
The contest entry period runs through June 10. Entry fee is $5 per pet. Entries will be featured in the pages of the Courier throughout the voting period, with updated voting totals.
The 2014 calendar will feature the 12 pets who gain the most votes. Each pet will be professionally photographed for the calendar. The calendars will be available by Thanksgiving and will cost $2 each.

Bryant PD releases video footage of Kum & Go robbery suspects

Bryant police are still searching for suspects in an armed robbery that took place early Friday morning at Kum & Go on Reynolds Road.
Police received video surveillance footage today from the convenience store chain home office.
Police Chief Mark Kizer said it has been determined that the vehicle driven by the suspects was a Toyota Forerunner made between 1997 and 2001 and that one of the suspects was wearing a Joe T. Robinson sweatshirt.
The video shows the other suspect wearing a Nike sweatshirt during the robbery.

NOTICE: Road closure in Bryant Tuesday

The portion of Boone Road from Tanglewood Street West to Woodland Park Road will be closed on Tuesday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The Bryant Street Department will be replacing culverts during this time.

Bryant firefighter on leave after arrest

Pulaski County sheriff's deputies arrested on Tuesday Jeremy Heavner, 38, in connection with a robbery that morning at Metropolitan Bank on Arch Street in Little Rock.
Heavner is a firefighter in Bryant.
Bryant Fire Chief J.P. Jordan said Heavner is on administrative leave for an indefinite amount of time. "We're just going to let the legal system run its course."
Jordan said, "We're just glad no one was hurt."
Heavner is being held at Pulaski County Detention Center.
