Minda Robin Mowery went to be with our Lord on Nov. 6, 2013, after a long, brave battle with cancer. She was born in Rock Island, Ill., on May 19, 1965.
Perry Ray Mann, 52, of Little Rock passed away on Nov. 7, 2013.
He was born May 3, 1961, to the late Ray Joe and Melba Inez Mann.
Perry was a 1979 graduate of Bryant High School. where he was voted most handsome.
He was an accomplished singer, musician and cabinet builder; he also had a passion for shooting 22 Bench Rest Rim Fire and was the international champion in 1995.
His most precious times were spent with his family and friends.
Perry was preceded in death by his parents and the mother of his children, Mary Mann.
Albert J. Linker, 69, of Alexander passed away Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at his home. He was born Jan. 21, 1944, in Woodson.
Albert was a retired diesel mechanic, a U.S. Air Force veteran and a member or Village Creek Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen Linker and Verdna Mae Mills Linker.
He is survived by a son, Joe Allen Linker of Little Rock; a daughter, Shellie Watson and husband Michael of Cypress, Texas; a sister, Dot Jones and husband Wayne of Paron; and five grandchildren.
Glen Richard Samples Sr., 86, of Malvern passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013. He was born March 4, 1927 in Benton.
Glen was a veteran of World War II and the Vietnam War and a member of First United Methodist Church in Benton, where he was part of the Menâ€™s Bible Class.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles G. Sample Sr. and Jessie Bird Sample; his wife, Ruth Samples; his brothers, John Sample, Harvey Sample and Charles Sample Jr.; and his sisters, Edith Robinson and Frances Rankin.
Richard Leon Brewer, 72, of Haskell went home to his heavenly father on Nov. 5, 2013.
He was born Aug. 10, 1941, to H. V. and Lucille Brewer. Â
He was preceded in death by his father, H.V. Brewer; his brother, Aubrey Brewer; his daughter, Debbie Herring; a stepson. Robert Brazil; his aunt, Lena Ramsey; and his father-in-law, Gerald Scott.
Gail Jeanette Coffman, 69, passed away Nov. 5, 2013. Gail was born June 27, 1944, in Tampa, Fla.
Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Gann and Dollie Aldridge.
BENTON â€“ Despite struggling for his worst game of the season last week in a 35-0 loss to the Wildcats in El Dorado, senior Panther quarterback Tarek Beaugard still has a chance to break the school record of 25 touchdown passes in a season. Earlroy â€śNubbinâ€ť Wray currently holds the record as Beaugard sits at 21 TDs, failing to throw for one last week and throwing a season-high three interceptions.
BAUXITE â€” The Bauxite Miners have had a hard time winning this season. Owners of a 1-8 overall record and still winless in 7-4A conference play, the Miners head into the the final week of the season with a trip to Nashville tonight.
Bauxite is coming off of a 62-7 loss to conference favorite Arkadelphia last week, a game in which the Miners totaled 226 yards of offense. Rooks led in passing yards with 150. The quarterback added a touchdown to his resume but also threw two interceptions. Junior wide receiver Ben Madison led with 10 catches for 93 yards and a TD in the loss.
The Bryant special election is not about a new tax but instead residents are being asked to approve how tax money the city is already receiving will be spent.
According to the ballot, funds generated by a 3/8 percent tax would be used to build two new fire station to replace two outdated ones.
Early voting started Tuesday at Grace Church (formerly Pentecostal Church) on Arkansas 5 (Stagecoach Road). The last day for early voting is today from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Benton police are looking for a suspect involved in an attempted armed robbery Thursday night at Home Run Gas Station on Military Road.
The owner of the store told officers that he was stocking shelves when he heard a noise at the front door. He said he saw the suspect holding a handgun trying to force his way into the business, but when the owner called 911, the suspect ran away.
"The suspect was described as being a white male, wearing a light-colored, hooded jacket, dark colored pants and a white bandana over his face," said Lt. Kevin Russell, Benton police spokesperson.
