BRYANT â€“ After leading the Bryant Hornets to their third 7A state title in five years, senior Hornet Blaine Knight is reaping the rewards of being named the 7A Tournament MVP after a 10-0 Bryant shutout of the Fayetteville Purple Dogs in the 7A state championship game this past season. On Friday at Bryant High School, Knight signed a national letter of intent with the Arkansas Razorbacks to play baseball.
BRYANT â€” Starting out as a pitcher for the Bryant Lady Hornets, senior Jordan Williams wonâ€™t be in the circle when she goes to the next level. On Wednesday, Williams signed a national letter of intent to play softball for the Arkansas-Monticello Cotton Blossoms at Bryant High School.
According to Williams, there was no other place she would rather go than Monticello, where sheâ€™ll major in science with plans to become a coach.
The Battle of Ohio had some playoff implications for the first time in years. Cleveland took sole possession of first place in the AFC North after a dominating victory over Cincinnati. Cincinnati QB Andy Dalton had the worst performance of his career as he went 10-33 for 86 yards and 3 interceptions. This resulted in a quarterback rating of 2. As for Cleveland, this marks the latest in the season they have been in first place since 1994.

So itâ€™s been a while. The Benton Panthersâ€™ 39-36 victory over the Pine Bluff Zebras this past Thursday night marked the first time in history Benton has finished the regular season undefeated. The closest the Panthers came before this season was in 1977 when Benton started the year 8-0-1 before losing to 4A Conference opponent Texarkana 16-13. What happened in 1977 you may ask? Well, that was the last time the Panthers won a state championship, their only other state title coming in 1916.
HOT SPRINGS â€“ Behind an All-State performance by senior Caitlyn Bell, the Bryant Lady Hornet cross country team took fourth place in the team standings at the 7A State Championship held at Oaklawn Park on Saturday. Bentonville won the title with 47 points followed by Rogers (52), Fayetteville (73), Bryant (135), Heritage (144), Har-Ber (178), and Cabot (182). There were 12 teams and 107 runners in the race.

HOUSTON -- Ryan Mallett's wait to be a starter is over.
After toiling in the shadow of Tom Brady for three seasons in New England and backing up Ryan Fitzpatrick for nine games this year, coach Bill O'Brien said Wednesday that the Houston Texans will bench Fitzpatrick and start Mallett at Cleveland on Nov. 16.
"I've been waiting four years for this," Mallett said. "Now it's my time to have an opportunity to show what I can do."
