Beavers fall short of title, lose on last play

December 10, 2012

There is always that one goal at the beginning of every sports season. From golf to volleyball, teams and individuals strive for that coveted trophy. That piece of hardware that will sit in a school trophy case for ever.
In the case of high school football, teams battle through blood, sweat and tears to get what they want. While some roads are easier than others, some teams find themselves in dog fights every week. For the 2012 Glen Rose Beavers and Harding Academy Wildcats, this season has been one to remember.

“We got outworked on the boards,” Benton Coach Jerry Chumley said. “We worked on that and made an emphasis the last two days, but for whatever reason we didn’t stick them. We did at times, but a team like that you have to do it every time or they’re going to eat you up.”

All or Nothing: Beavers, Cats looking to cap season with 3A title

December 7, 2012

WOO, PIG!: UA introduces new head coach

December 6, 2012

FAYETTEVILLE - From slopping hogs in Illinois, Bret Bielema now coaches Hogs in Arkansas.
The now former Wisconsin Badgers football coach and native of Prophetstown, Ill., was officially introduced at a Wednesday press conference by University of Arkansas Athletic Director Jeff Long as the Razorbacks head football coach.
“I grew up, ironically, on a pig farm,” Bielema said before leading boosters and UA brass in calling the Hogs. “That was my first public Pig-Sooie. From the ages 4 to 18 when I called them, my only partners were pigs. There is a little more pressure there.”
