Panthers fall in OT

December 12, 2014

WHITE HALL – In a close game throughout, the Benton Panthers fell 61-59 to the White Hall Bulldogs on Tuesday night. It was the first game in which the Benton basketball team became a lot deeper as players from the 6A state runner-up football team played for the first time. Football and basketball and all-state junior guard Cason Maertens returned to the court, as did seniors Julius Lewis and Tyrin Hollis, and juniors Jeremiah Bowling and Hunter Howe.

But with the new faces on the court, the Panthers are still trying to get on the same page.

Dallas was able to use an early second half turnover to score a 24 yard touchdown pass from Tony Romo to Cole Beasley. They used great field position to tack on 2 more touchdowns before the end of the 3rd quarter to make the score 35-7. Chicago made the game somewhat close thanks to a 21 point fourth quarter of their own, but it was too little, too late.
