Three Bryant Lady Hornet softball players all signed letters of intent to play at their respective colleges late Thursday morning in front of about 150 people in Love Auditorium on the Bryant High School campus.
The three players, Peyton Jenkins, Kayla Sory and Jessie “The Beast” Taylor, could have had their own separate, special days to sign their letters, but the old friends wouldn’t think of it.

November 9, 2011

The Bauxite Lady Miners scored the first 13 points of the game in a 52-24 win over rival Glen Rose Lady Beavers in the first regular season game of the season on Tuesday at Dawson Gym in Bauxite.
“First game I just didn’t want us to come out a little amped up, not be able to hit any shots or let them stay in for too long,” Bauxite Coach Josh Harrison said. “I felt like if we could get on them quick it could kind of get our butterflies out. We did a good job of that.”

The Sheridan Yellowjackets’ bid to host a first-round playoff game came to an end when they dropped a 28-21 decision to the Arkansas High Razorbacks in Texarkana on Friday night. The Yellowjackets scored 14 points in the final four minutes, but couldn’t get it done in the end.
“Too little too late,” Sheridan Coach Louis Campbell said. “We didn’t play very good on defense. We gave them 21 points. They had a fumble returned for a touchdown. That was 28 points.”

Benton to face Little Rock Fair tonight

November 3, 2011

It has not been an easy season for the Benton Panthers. With each new week, a new injury seems to appear, making it difficult for the Panthers to find their rhythm. The biggest loss so far — senior quarter back Dylan Harris. Add to the fact that they play in the 6A South, one of the toughest conferences in the state, and you end up with one forgettable and miserable season.
To start the year, the Benton Panthers showed huge promise as being a contender in the 6A South with a 21-14 loss to now conference-leading Bryant and followed with a huge win over Jacksonville.

Wow. It happened. The St. Louis Cardinals completed one of the most memorable comebacks of all time when they won the 2011 World Series in seven games against the Texas Rangers. Down 10.5 games to the Wild Card leader Atlanta Braves on Aug. 25, the Cardinals came back the last month of the season to take the National League Wild Card on the last day of the season.

October 28, 2011

On a cold, rainy Thursday night that featured little action at C.W. Lewis Stadium, the Benton Panthers freshmen squad pulled out a 6-0 overtime victory against visiting Cabot South.
The first half of the game was relatively uneventful, featuring stalled offenses and missed opportunities. Benton quarterback Nick Quinn gave up an interception at the top of the second quarter, leaving Cabot with the ball on its own 44-yard line. That turnover resulted in no score for Cabot.
