It's been a while

November 11, 2014

So it’s been a while. The Benton Panthers’ 39-36 victory over the Pine Bluff Zebras this past Thursday night marked the first time in history Benton has finished the regular season undefeated. The closest the Panthers came before this season was in 1977 when Benton started the year 8-0-1 before losing to 4A Conference opponent Texarkana 16-13. What happened in 1977 you may ask? Well, that was the last time the Panthers won a state championship, their only other state title coming in 1916.
