$9,700 grant to be used for volleyball equipment

August 7, 2014

For the third time, the city of Bryant's parks department and Bryant School District have partnered to obtain a special joint use agreement grant through the Arkansas Department of Education.

Pending Bryant School Board approval, the $9,700 grant will be used to purchase youth volleyball equipment to be used jointly by both organizations on school property at Hurricane Creek Elementary School beginning in the fall of 2014.

The money also will be used for operational expense and for the purchase of 25 youth volleyballs, two volleyball carts, two pairs of portable volleyball standards and four volleyball nets to be used jointly by the parks department and the school district.

"These joint use agreement opportunities offered by the state are a progressive solution to a community experiencing limited resources," said Brandon Griffin, recreation superintendent for the city of Bryant.

"It just goes to show you the value of community partnership as well as taxpayer money being invested back into the health and wellness programming here in Bryant," Griffin said.
