A.E. ‘Gene’ Wright

A.E. “Gene” Wright, 86, of Benton died Tuesday, March 15, 2011.
He was born Feb. 1, 1925, in Bauxite.
Gene retired from Reynolds Metals Company after 31 years, owner of Gene’s Small Engines in Benton for 28 years, was a member of the Bauxite Masonic Lodge for 50 years, and a World War II Army Air Corp veteran. He was a long time member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist church and United Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Oscola Wright; brothers, Edward and Charles Wright; and sisters, Ottis Woods and Pauline McGee.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Louise Reynolds Wright of Benton; daughter, Jean Porter and husband Herb of Gautier, Miss.; and one grandson, Aaron Porter of Mobile, Ala.; brothers, Arnold Wright and wife Frances and Tommy Wright and wife Wanda, all of Benton; sisters, Pat Stuckey and husband Bill, Susie Wright and Lois Howard and husband Gary, all of Benton; and sister-in-law, Mildred Wright of Benton.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Ashby Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in New Rosemont Cemetery. Minister will be the Rev. Randy Ward.
Pallbearers are James Smith, Richard Moore, Don Benham, Curt McGee, David Ramsey and Allen Wright.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Bauxite Community Hall in Bauxite.
