Ambrose Davis 'Dave' Bridges

Ambrose Davis "Dave" Bridges, 93, of Benton died Feb. 8, 2014, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Little Rock.
He was born May 7, 1920, in Campbell, Mo.
Dave was a retired fire captain with the Benton Services Center. He served in World War II in the U.S. Army (6th Infantry, 1st Armored Division).
He enlisted in 1938 and served until 1941 at which time he was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant. He re-enlisted in 1941, serving until 1945 when he was honorably discharged with the rank of corporal.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Bridges; two sons, Hal Bridges and wife Karen of Sheridan and Dale Bridges and wife Tammy of Benton; three daughters, Sondra Covert and husband Robert of Dacula, Ga., Lamera (Kim) Wheelbarger and husband Wayne of Hot Springs, and Jennie Standridge and husband Guy of Lonsdale; 14 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, countless friends and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ambrose Dan Bridges, and mother, Ethel Bridges Wilson; and his only brother, Lee "Jack" Bridges of Benton.
Funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, at Springhill Baptist Church, 8602 Springhill Road, Alexander, AR 72002. The Rev. Davey McCool will officiate.
Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander.
Visitation for Mr. Bridges is set from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church on Tuesday, Feb. 11.
