Although Glen Rose gave up two runs against Bismarck, all were unearned and the Beavers’ pitching roster essentially threw a combined no-hitter in their 12-2 win Tuesday.

Glen Rose head coach Chase Meyers said, “I didn’t seem like we were pitching that well, because we had a couple of errors and they had runners on.

“But our guys stopped the bleeding, and it could’ve been a lot worse.”
Earning the win for Glen Rose was freshman Clay Holicer, who gave up two unearned runs in 2 2/3 innings. He walked three batters and struck out two, while hitting two with pitches.

Senior Dylan Scroggins was awarded the save after striking out three batters in one inning.

Freshman Wesley Ray, who came in as middle-relief, had one strikeout.
The game was called after five innings due to the Arkansas Activities Association’s run rule.

Freshman Blake Nesbitt batter two for three for the Beavers, scoring twice with one triple. Senior Tanner Glenn was 2-3, scoring once with a double and two runs-batted-in. Junior Brandon Kittell was 2-3 with two runs, a double and 3 RBIs.

Also, Ray went 2-3, scoring one run. Holicer was 1-2 with one run and one RBI, and sophomore Collin Hunter was 2-4 with one run and 3 RBIs.

“We hit the ball better last night than we did our previous few games,” Meyers said, adding that Glenn, the designated hitter, “broke out of a slump.”

Glen Rose next plays host to Little Rock Christian at 4 p.m. Thursday.
