Benton police arrest sex offender residing near two day-care centers

November 28, 2012

A registered sex offender living near two day-care centers was arrested on Nov. 20, authorities said.
Lt. Kevin Russell, public information officer for the Benton Police Department, said 48-year-old William Marsh is a convicted Level 3 sex offender and was charged with failure to comply with registration and reporting requirements.
Russell said that detectives had received information that Marsh wasn’t in compliance of his release terms by living at an unregistered address in Benton.
"After a brief investigation, detectives were able to determine that Marsh wasn’t living at his last reported address and was also living within 2,000 feet of two day-cares," Russell noted. "Detectives were able to locate Marsh and take him into custody without incident."
Anyone with information regarding this incident or other crimes is encouraged to call the Benton Police Department at 778-1171 or 315-TIPS (8477). Individuals also may send an anonymous crime tip to CRIMES (274637) with the keyword BNPD in the body of the text.
