Two Little Rock men were arrested by Benton officers on Friday for allegedly breaking into a vehicle.
Lt. Kevin Russell, public information officer for the Benton Police Department, said officers were conducting neighborhood checks when at 2:30 a.m. they noticed two men on Misty Drive in the Hidden Valley Subdivision acting suspicious.
"Upon further investigation it was determined both subjects had broken into a vehicle parked at a residence in the area," Russell said. "It was determined that the vehicle broken into was left unlocked and access was gained by the suspects testing the doors prior stealing items out of it."
Steven Dickerson, 18, and 21-year-old Jackie Fossette were taken into custody. Each were charged with obstruction of governmental operations, breaking and entering, and unauthorized use of another persons property to facilitate a crime. Fossette was additionally charged with felony theft of property and a misdemeanor charge of theft of property. Dickerson was additionally charged with three felony counts of theft by receiving, a misdemeanor charge of theft by receiving and failure to pay a fine for disorderly conduct.
As of press time, Fossette remains in the Saline County jail with a $5,000 sheriff's bond and Dickerson remains in jail with a $2,500 sheriff's bond.
Russell said the investigation is continuing and that additional charges could be forthcoming.
