Betty Jean Carman

Betty Jean Carman, 81, of Traskwood, passed away from this life to be with her Heavenly Father on Nov. 30, 2013.  She was a retired nurse and active member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Traskwood.
Mrs. Carman was known for her generosity, especially to those going through difficult times.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Delbert and Mae Shoptaw, and a brother, Raymond Shoptaw.
 She is survived by her husband, Winferd Carman; a brother, James Shoptaw; a sister, Phyllis Shoptaw; a daughter, Jayme Langley, all of Traskwood.
She is also survived by two sons, Larry Carman of Dallas, Texas, and Richard Carman of Benton; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many others that called her "Ma Ma Betty."
Funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Traskwood. Burial will be in Traskwood Cemetery. Pallbearers are Christopher Carman, Lynn Carman, Brian Carman, Randy Smart, Paul Simmons and Brian Prewitt.
Visitation is set from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2. at Ashby Funeral Home.
