Bob Lee Asher, 68, of Benton died Sunday May 20, at his home. He was born April 22, 1944 in Cherokee City.
He was a retired lineman for Benton Utilities, where he worked for 28 years, and was a Baptist.
Bob grew up in the woods hauling pulpwood for the family business. With the knowledge he gained, he eventually built his own house over a period of 28 years.  He loved his family and treasured spending time with his grandchildren.
Bob enjoyed working for the city and would always lend a hand to help someone in need.  One of his greatest passions was spending time with his family on Degray Lake. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, Olen Earl and Geneva Mae Stevens Asher; two brothers, Eugene Asher and Dean Asher; s sister, Ida Perry; and two grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons, Robert, Amity and Gregg Asher of Benton; a daughter, Melissa Jo Sword of Benton; three brothers, Donnie L. Asher of Tulsa, Okla., Kenneth Asher of Senatobia, Miss.. and Gary Dale Asher of Tulsa, Okla.; two sisters, Ruby Freeman of Hot Springs and Millie Minker of Bartlesville, Okla.; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 24, at Ashby Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Ten Mile Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, at the funeral home.
