Bobby Lee Hobbs of Mabelvale passed away Friday, April 15, 2011.
He was born Aug. 17, 1931, in Little Rock.
He graduated Bauxite High School in 1950. He began working for Reynolds Metals 1950, and joined the Air Force in January 1951. After being discharged from the Air Force in December 1954 he resumed work at Reynolds Metal until August 1956 when he re-entered the Air Force. His overseas tours included Korea, two tours in Japan, Vietnam and Thailand. Among the numerous awards were the Air Force commendation medal with three oak leaf clusters and the Air Medal for combat missions in Vietnam.
After retiring from the Air Force in October 1972, he was employed by Civil Services at LRAFB for 21 years. He lived in Cabot for 31 years and loved hunting, fishing and bowling. Bobby was a faithful member of Salem United Methodist Church and past president of the Bauxite Old Timers Organization.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lula Hobbs; and wife of 48 years, Jean Green Hobbs.
He is survived by his present wife, Frankie Hobbs; two daughters, Karen Hobbs and Jerri Atkinson and husband Rocky; two stepdaughters, Ellen (Wayne) Davis and DeAnna (Randy) Staton; brother-in-law, Mike Green and wife Penny; two granddaughters, Jamie (Chad) Ehert and Brianna Murdock; two stepgrandsons, Brad and Brent Staton; and two great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Levi Ehert.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Salem United Methodist Church, 1647 Salem Road in Benton. Entombment will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery, 10201 Highway 5 North, Little Rock. Arrangements by Mooreâ€™s Cabot Funeral Home, call 501-842-5816.
Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday, prior to the service, at the church.
