Boil order issued in Shannon Hills

May 30, 2013

A precautionary boil water notice has been issued for residents of the city of Shannon Hills living in the area located west of Otter Creek to Vimy Ridge Road.
A water main break at the corner of Clayton and Donnie drives is the reason for the boil order, according to David Passmore, public works manager.
As a precaution, all affected customers — an estimated 350 — are advised that the water may be unsafe for human consumption, Passmore said. Water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, or washing dishes should be boiled briskly for one minute.
In addition, all ice cubes should be discarded and only boiled water be used for making ice, according to Passmore. Also as an alternative, bottled water may be used.
This precautionary boil water notice will remain in effect until the problem has been corrected and an adequate disinfectant level is established throughout the distribution system and a bacteriological survey shows that the water is safe to drink, Passmore added.
Questions may be directed to Lucky Turney or Mary Meyers at the Shannon Hills Water Department at 501-455-3195 ext. 10.
