Bond set for alleged murderer

June 21, 2012

Danny Stalnacker

Bond has been set at $250,000 for murder suspect Danny Wayne Stalnacker, who voluntarily surrendered to Hot Spring County authorities at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday.
Stalnacker, 64, appeared before District Judge Mike Robinson on Wednesday and is scheduled for a subsequent appearance at 1 p.m. Aug. 7.
Lt. Scotty Courtney of the Saline County Sheriff's Office said Stalnacker remains incarcerated at the Saline County Detention Center.
Stalnacker, 64, is charged with first-degree murder in conjunction with the death of 35-year-old Christopher Patterson of Traskwood.
Patterson died from a head injury suffered shortly after midnight Saturday, Courtney said.
Authorities became aware of the situation on Saturday, at approximately 12:45 a.m., when a Traskwood police officer responded to the Saline River to check out a report of an unconscious person.
The officer reported finding Patterson lying on the ground with a bleeding head wound.
Patterson was transported to an area hospital, where it was determined he was suffering from blunt force trauma. He was rushed into surgery and later died from his injuries, Courtney said.
Patterson was a construction worker.
The sheriff's office issued a warrant charging Stalnacker with first-degree murder.
Funeral for Patterson is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at Victory Baptist Church in the Benton area.
