Boyd Edwin Allinson, 84, of Bauxite passed away on Aug. 2, 2013. He was born Sept. 28, 1928, in Sheridan
Boyd graduated from Arkansas State Teachers College (now University of Central Arkansas) with a degree in broadcast journalism. While attending ASTC, he met the love of his life, Mary Jane Kidd. They married in 1951, and were married for 53 years.
Boyd joined the U.S. Army Air Force in 1946 and was stationed in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1948. He again answered his nation's call to duty by joining the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War on the USS Boxer Aircraft Carrier.
He was the radio station manager in Mansfield, La. He worked as a salesman for NCR. He opened Allinson Real Estate as the principal broker for the rest of his professional career.
Boyd was a member of New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Beryl and Maureen Allinson.
He loved his family, country, hunting, fishing, gardening, and music. He always had a big garden for sharing. Boyd loved hearing and sharing funny stories. He was known for his sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife, Neva Allinson; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Ginger Allinson and David and Paula Allinson; a daughter and son-in-law, Gay and Derek Leaver; a brother, Milan Allinson; grandchildren, Allison Leaver Hopper and husband Wesley of Benton, Chelsea Leaver Pacheco and husband Adrian of Benton, Haley Allinson and Jacob Allinson, both of Bauxite, Michael Allinson of Colorado Springs, Col., Marybeth Allinson of Little Rock, and Mark Allinson of Benton; and three great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, at Lost Creek Cemetery in Sheridan by Ashby Funeral Home. The Rev. Bill Cato will officiate.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 5, at the funeral home.
